Manual Manager is user friendly and can be used by domain experts without XML/DTP expertise to author manuals, track changes and achieve regulatory compliance. It supports input from Airbus SGML/XML and Boeing XML formats. Manuals can be output to AeroDocs Viewer for EFB Class 1, 2 and 3, Web and Mobile, XML for Airbus and Boeing EFB and PDF to ensure that all required formats are available for manual publication.
Unlike generic XML/DTP systems AeroDocs Manuals is designed specifically for airlines. It supports Airbus and Boeing Operations Manuals (FCOM, MEL, CDL, QRH) and General Operations Manuals (Part A, B, C & D, SOP, Cabin Crew, etc.). AeroDocs Manuals is a true multi-fleet system supporting effectivity by aircraft or group.
When designing Manual Manager our focus was on the following:
- Creating an airline specific solution that can be easily used by airline domain experts. No technical expertise should be required to edit the manuals.
- The system should be restrictive so that it maintains a consistent structure, look and feel across the entire library. Only superusers can change the overall style of the manuals.
- Reducing the time and effort required to complete manuals to a high standard and assure compliance with the latest regulation. To facilitate this items in the front matter such as highlights, compliance matrix, list of effective pages are automatically generated.
- The system has a comprehensive workflow and audit trail where every edit is captured. This makes manual production simple and straightforward as everyone knows what stage the manuals are at and which tasks are outstanding to completion.
Easy to use
The market-leading web-based editor for Boeing and Airbus XML and operational manuals. The key feature of this application is that you don’t see the XML. It uses a WYSIWYG editor. Most domain experts within airlines do not have extensive technical XML authoring skills. Most enterprise XML editors are complex and require deep staff knowledge with specific XML expertise. With Manual Manager, staff just need one day’s training to be completely familiar with the system.
For example, managing well structured/nested tables in XML is difficult. Manual Manager allows XML tables to be created and modified. Full-structured XML elements can be inserted into the tables. The system also supports ‘unstructured tables’ table import directly from Excel.
Keeping manuals up to date is difficult, especially when manufacturers issue new revisions. Each change has to be verified by the airline staff. This can be an arduous process. However Manual Manager provides side by side manual comparison and revision control features.
Manual Manager comes fully integrated with Distributor and Tablet Viewers so as once your manual is complete it can be automatically distributed at the press of a button.
Multi user and web based
All the user needs is a login to the application and a modern browser. The system is completely web-based and does not need a local install on the user’s PC. Multiple users can work on the same manual at the same time. The only restriction is that only one user can edit a manual section at a time. Meanwhile, other users can view the section.
Multi output formats – Class 1, 2, 3 and PDF
The system produces multiple outputs, full library for web viewing and for all tablet and EFB formats. The system has a special output for the Boeing Class 3 electronic document browser (EDB).
