11 Jan 10 Arconics is pleased to announce that Aer Lingus, the Irish national flag carrier has deployed the Arconics AirPortal platform as the central communication system for all flight, cabin and ground operations crew across the airline. AirPortal provides staff with personalized up-to-date information on safety, rosters, manuals, messaging and provides comprehensive compliance management across the airline. Project sponsor Manager Operations and Compliance Captain Jimmy Courtney said "The system makes our regulatory compliance process faster, simpler, and more efficient. For example, when we issue information to pilots or crew, we can mandate a confirmation. AirPortal tracks every single acknowledgement and we can instantly track and report on compliance across the enterprise. AirPortal underpins airline safety and is a significant tool to help us continuously improve compliance." The implementation included data conversion, software installation, integration with existing enterprise systems, and training and support. The project was completed on time, and within a tight budget. Paul Stanley, Project Manager for Aer Lingus commented "The AirPortal implementation went smoothly and did not disrupt our day-to-day operations. The response from Pilots, crew and flight operations to the new system have been uniformly positive." "It helps them get their jobs done faster and more efficiently", Stanley added. Arconics AirPortal features a number of innovations including support for a "virtual tech pubs" department enabling staff and crew to collaboratively update and publish content irrespective of location or department. The system has brought a consistent look and feel across all content and supports output to multiple formats - PDF for print, HTML and XML for Electronic flight bag (EFB). The result is a comprehensive digital library of all ops manuals and compliance content. AirPortal also supports access for external Regulatory Authority to draft and published content. This speeds version management and change approval between the airline and the regulator. The system is currently being extended for other functions within the airline and will ultimately provide a single point of access for all Aer Lingus staff to the tools and operational information required to support operations.
